The Wyoming recycling rate is well below the national average. According to the 2013 Wyoming Solid Waste Diversion Study, in 2010, about 1 million tons of solid waste was generated in Wyoming. Of this waste, approximately 85% was disposed of, while only 7% was recycled and 8% composted. The solid waste diversion rate in Wyoming is approximately 15% and the State has set the goal of 30% through the implementation of new recycling programs. This is one of the lowest recycling rates reported, which becomes even more apparent when compared to the national average of 34%. A collaboration with PPR can help the Equality State get back on track andtake proactive steps toward improving its recycling rate by providing easy plastic waste disposal, which ensures both economic and environmental gains for Wyoming-based companies.
