According to the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality,up to 90% of waste generated in Oklahoma has the potential to be recycled. Additionally, when taking plastic recycling into account, one ton of recycled plastic saves the equivalent of over 1000 gallons of gasoline. The state of Oklahoma has recognized the value of recycling and this is reflected in the ruling of the Oklahoma Legislature, through the Oklahoma Solid Waste Management Act (“Act”) 27A O.S. § 2-10-205(A) which set a goal of recycling at least 10% of the solid waste generated in the state. While a positive goal, this recycling rate is only a fraction of the national average of 34%. A collaboration with PPR can help the Sooner State reach its goals and perhaps even exceed them by providing easy plastic waste disposal, which ensures both economic and environmental gains for Oklahoma-based companies.
