With this blog we thought we’d come back down to earth and spread the news about the more prosaic, everyday uses involving High Impact Polystyrene HIPS. Furthermore, many of the items we’re listing in this blog are also design classics and fundamental to our lives – despite being unloved.
Take the humble plastic cutlery. Yes, the knife, fork and spoon used by a million British campers.
Next time you’re digging into your burnt sausage and burger straight off the grill this summer, remember that this essential utensil was formed out of high impact polystyrene. Incidentally, as you toss your tomatoes and lettuce around the salad bowl please note that this bowl was also made out of High Impact Polystyrene HIPS. After your lunch, while your spooning out your favourite yoghurt please be reminded that the humble yoghurt pot, you guessed it, was made out of high impact polystyrene.
Elsewhere, designers working on their high spec iMac computers will probably not give a second thought to the keyboard they’re using. But many will be using a new curvature keyboard with special palm rests, ideal for hours in front of the screen and, yes, also created out high impact polystyrene.
You’ve probably now realised that here at Eagle Plastics we’re passionate about high impact polystyrene – and plastics generally. And because we’re passionate, we’re good at stocking the stuff.
Very good actually.
With the food packaging industry it’s not just about plastic cutlery. High Impact Polystyrene HIPS also has unique qualities that involve strength, hygiene and heat retention, while always remaining in shape and robust. We also stock high impact polystyrene for water and chemical tanks, interior and exterior cladding and underbody mouldings in cars and trucks. We do all that and much much more…
